How to read these figures
  • The count is administrative, not epidemiological. It records deaths that reach a hospital or morgue and are identified — not those still under rubble, or who died at home.
  • Indirect deaths appear nowhere. Deaths from the collapse of health care, water and food systems are uncounted.
  • Sources differ slightly. MoH puts the truce-period toll at 1,264; OCHA at 1,259 as of 12 August. Different cutoffs, different verification standards, neither fully verified independently.
  • Totals lag reality. Figures are revised upward as bodies are recovered — 804 have been retrieved from rubble since the ceasefire alone.
